Chapel of the Ascension

History: The Chapel of Ascension has a complex history that begins in 392 CE, when it was built by Poimenia of the royal family. A treasure of the chapel was - and is still today - a stone supposedly marked with the footprints of Jesus as he completed the Ascension.

Importance: The faithful is traditionally believed it to be the earthly spot where Jesus ascended into Heaven after his resurrection.

Location: It is located on the Mount of Olives, in the At-Tur district of Jerusalem.
